Job Location:
Based at the business address, other locations where the company leases land (5km radius) in Creston
Will travel between farm locations around Creston in a truck supplied by the business
The employer provides transportation from the workplace to job sites
Wage: $26/hour; salary increases as per company policy
Employment terms and conditions: Full-time, permanent, 30-72 hours per week (weather-dependent, up to 12 hours per day, 6 days per week during the peak growing season) Early Morning, Morning, Day, Evening, Weekend

Job requirements:
Experience: At least 3 years of related experience

Types of crops: Pome and soft fruits in the orchards, multiple vegetables in the gardens, Squash, gourds, melons and cucumbers, Cabbage, Root vegetables and onions, Peppers, tomatoes and eggplant, Beans, peas and corn.
Equipment & machinery: Tractor, Forklift, Pallet Jack
Requirement: A clean driving record
Supervise: 11-15 people
Duties:
Coordinate and supervise farm workers
Consider water saturation, light and temperature when planning for crop growth and development
Operate and supervise the maintenance of farm equipment
Follow sustainable soy farming practices such as crop rotation, reduced-till or no-till, water and nutrient management, precision farming technology and cover crops
Develop specific plans to prioritize & organize tasks to accomplish the work
Divide fresh harvested produce into marketable lots and non-marketable lots
Provide agricultural crop services such as plowing, irrigating, cultivating, spraying or harvesting
Implement soil fertility programs, train trees to produce more fruit of higher quality
Assist in the development and implementation of farm safety and bio-security procedures
Provide training to other workers
Oversee the activities of clearing the fields & the process of hoeing crops
Supervise the crop production, from soil preparation through seeding, pruning, irrigation, weed control, and harvesting
Ensure farm safety and bio-security procedures are followed
Maintain quality control, production records, work records and logs
Facilitate the production of orchard/garden crops during the Summer and orchard/garden planning and preparation during the Winter
Ensure good horticultural practices are followed
Perform general farm duties such as cutting crops, planting, weeding, pruning, and other related tasks
