Computer Network Technician
Job description
Responsibilities:
Maintain, troubleshoot and administer local and wide area networks (LAN/WAN).
Install, configure and troubleshoot network switches, routers, firewalls, wireless access points and related network equipment.
Monitor network and system performance and identify connectivity or performance issues.
Install and configure computer hardware, networking software and operating system software.
Perform network troubleshooting and provide technical support to users and customers.
Perform network equipment upgrades, replacements and configuration changes.
Troubleshoot wired and wireless connectivity issues.
Maintain technical documentation relating to network configurations and installations.
Provide remote and onsite technical support as required.
Coordinate network access and use and assist with implementation of network infrastructure.
Qualifications:
College, CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 to 2 years in computer networking, information technology or a related field.
2 to 3 years of relevant experience.
Strong understanding of LAN/WAN networking, TCP/IP, switching, routing and wireless networking.
Experience troubleshooting network hardware and connectivity issues.
Ability to work independently and as part of a technical team.
English language proficiency.
Schedule: Day, evening, early morning, night, weekend, flexible hours and on-call work may be required.
